Buying A Notebook Pc?

I already got a Pentium4 desktop PC. But, I always think I should have a small notebook PC which I can carry everywhere in my bag.
Even though Im working full time (I got a desktop PC there too), I’ve s tarted my higher studies again. I stidy most of the times in a university library which has Wi-fi internet facilities too.
I’m interested in buying an ACER notebook which has a Celeron processor with 1.86Ghz. Coz, I’m hoping to use this PC only for my assignments (not for games), I hope it would fulfil what I require. But, most people say Celeron is really a really slow processor.
A Pentium Dual Core notebook is also available for more than $400/= of the Celeron notebook. But this Dual Core’s speed is also 1.86Ghz.
Can anyone please tell me, whether I should go ahead with the Celeron? (Especially becoz they both have the same speed).
Please also tell me specifically where Celeron processor under-performs (except in gaming).
Thanks Heaps!

  1. if you’re using it for studying you only need an absolute basic laptop, i have a 6 year old packard bell with a screwed cpu that works fine for work, so just get the most basic one you can find. like you said you dont intend to use it for games or anything but studying. any modern computer will breeze through what most people expect to do on computers. Studying, internet, music, dvd’s, etc. the celeron will work absolutely fine

  2. You don’t need a dual core laptop if your just going to use it for studying.

  3. go 4 a refurbushed Dell p4 from Dell they R under $500.oo

  4. You should get a high quality notebook from Toshiba. I would highly recommend a Toshiba Satellite M65-S9092, and I love it.
